Barcelona, 19 October 2022 – SEIDOR, a multinational consultancy firm specializing in technological services and solutions, has managed to double its turnover in the field of e-Learning projects during the last financial year. Among them, the launch of the UNED's virtual educational platform "Ágora" stands out, a cloud solution based on Moodle's open source technology™ which will enable active, adaptive and personalized learning in the academic sphere.
The platform, which has begun to be deployed progressively at the National University of Distance Education (UNED), until its full activation in October 2023 for 200,000 students, has been developed within the framework of the Open LMS platform, the provider of free educational technologies software with the greatest presence globally. With this project, UNED becomes the most relevant implementation of OpenLMS in southern Europe, with SEIDOR being recognized as the first Open LMS Gold Partner in Spain.
In the words of Baptista Borrell, director of SEIDOR's Education division, "with these projects SEIDOR consolidates its position in the field of education, since the division was created in 2014 with a specialized and global value proposal for the whole group". In addition, the organization has recently acquired Opentrends, a digital transformation company specializing in the development of cloud applications and customer experience solutions, which represents a reinforcement of its strategy in this area. In this regard, Borrell stated that "the recent integration of OpenTrends in the company will enrich this value proposal, with new components that we will soon be announcing to our customers and to the sector itself".
For her part, Rocío Muñoz, Vice Chancellor for Technology at UNED, stated that "Ágora's drive demonstrates the commitment that UNED has made to the development of new technologies that help our students achieve their academic goals". "In this sense, Muñoz argued that "the methodology that this technology allows, in addition to being adaptive, integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), so that, if you do not pass a questionnaire, the platform recommends other routes, an aspect that contributes to student's learning and not only to the preparation of their exam”.
Platform scope
Among the advantages offered by the tool is the expansion and improvement of activities, including question banks, peer evaluation and self-assessment. From Open LMS, adaptive learning tools such as the Personalized Learning Designer (PLD) stand out, allowing the creation of personalized routes based on the results; or follow-up reports for teaching teams, among other applications. The solution is currently available for the 90,000 students in the first year of all UNED's Degrees and Virtual Host Communities. Once its full implementation is complete, in October of next year, the platform will serve the 1,264 teachers and 195,000 students enrolled in the rest of the Degree courses, as well as in University entrance studies, Master's, Doctorate, CUID-Languages and Continuing Education, thus becoming the largest virtual educational tool in Spain.
Commitment to the field of education
As of today, SEIDOR's Education division is in Spain, Italy, as well as having a centre of operations and expertise in Peru, which gives it a presence in the country itself and in Chile, Ecuador and Colombia, covering a wide range of solutions and services with the aim of improving the management and teaching and learning processes of both public and private organizations.
Beyond the educational platform launched for UNED (Ágora) developed with Open LMS technology, SEIDOR has launched projects for bids won in 2022, such as the deployment of different LMS platforms that have been significant successes in the area of e-Learning within the company's Education division, and which reflect the drive the organization wants to carry out in this field.
