Kate Darling participates in Sónar+D with SEIDOR
- We are joining Sónar 2023 as a partner, inviting MIT researcher and scientist Kate Darling to present her ideas on the social, ethical and legal relationships between humans and robots at Sónar+D
- The goal is to stimulate ideas and reflection on the growing penetration and popularisation of Artificial Intelligence in organisations and in people's daily lives
Kate Darling, the world's leading expert in robot ethics, participates in Sónar+D with SEIDOR
We have become the first technology consultancy to sponsor Sónar, a pioneering cultural event and an international benchmark in creativity, science, technology and new trends in electronic dance music, which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in Barcelona on 15, 16 and 17 June of this year. As a new partner of the festival, we invited Kate Darling, the world's leading expert in robot ethics, to take part in the Sónar+D international congress.
Kate Darling is a researcher and scientist at the MIT Media Lab who studies the evolving relationships between human beings and seemingly living machines, an increasingly relevant issue as Artificial Intelligence becomes more prominent in people's daily lives. A prolific writer and regular contributor to various media outlets, such as The New Yorker, The Atlantic, the BBC, NPR and The Guardian, Kate Darling is conducting experiments to explore how we perceive interactions between humans and robots, focusing on the emotional connection we establish with machines.
Kate Darling will offer, with SEIDOR, a talk on the future social, ethical and legal relationships between humans and our robotic creations, which will take place at two different times during Sónar. The first will be in a private session, which will take place on Thursday, 15 June, and close out all the events celebrating the consultancy's 40th anniversary and which will be aimed at employees, customers, collaborators and institutions; and the second, on Friday, 16 June, will be part of Sónar+D 2023, an international congress that has been bringing together artists, creative technologists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, thinkers, scientists, entrepreneurs and makers in Barcelona since 2013, and which every year considers the impact of creativity on our present and on the construction of new futures.
